SC Dept. of Revenue: Greenville man charged with tax evasion

COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenville man was charged with tax evasion on Friday and he could face up to 15 years in prison, according to Samantha Cheek of the SC Department of Revenue.

Cheek said Gregory Simpson, 46, was charged with three counts of violating tax and revenue law.

Simpson could face up to 15 years and/or up to a $30,000 in fines if convicted, Cheek said.

The minimum income taxes were withheld from Simpson's paychecks and he has an outstanding tax liability of $13,430, according to Cheek.
