Police in Lenoir say five women have been arrested for prostitution after a month-long investigation at an area hotel.
According to the Lenoir Police Department, officers took part in an operation targeting prostitution on Thursday.
Police say they began an investigation at the Day's Inn, on Blowing Rock Road, a month ago after getting several complaints.
The investigation lead officers to internet based advertisements soliciting sexual activity for money. Police say undercover officers met with the five women, between the ages of 30 and 54, and they were arrested for attempting to engage in prostitution.
Officers say they arrested 54-year-old Phyllis Holton Moretz, of Hickory, 30-year-old Arlene Alexander, Lenoir, 36-year-old Kristy Kay Laws, of Lenoir, 31-year-old Brandy Lynnette Henley, of Morganton, and 44-year-old Teresa Annas Compton, of Granite Falls.
Police say the investigation lead to other names being revealed and additional charges may be sought. Officers say they will conduct additional prostitution stings, if needed.
