EDISTO BEACH, SC (WCSC) -

Emergency officials rescued two stranded kayakers in the area of Edisto Beach on Thursday.

Officials with the Coast Guard say they were notified at 10:52 a.m. that two kayakers were being pulled out into the sea in the area of Edisto Beach.

Authorities say the kayakers eventually made their way to the beach near Otter Island between St. Helena Sound and Edisto Beach.

A Coast Guard crew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Facility Charleston was diverted from a training mission to assist at 11:55 a.m.

The aircrew arrived at the kayakers' location and lowered a radio to them. The helicopter crew directed a boat crew from the Edisto Beach Fire Department to the kayakers' position. The Edisto Beach Fire Department boat crew picked up the kayakers at 12:50 p.m.

The kayakers reported no injuries and were transported to Edisto Island Yacht Club.
