New FFN Top 10 for Week 5

Posted: Updated:

The votes are in and there are big changes in the FFN Top 10 driven by Town and Country Ford.  4 teams in the poll lost in week 4 and 3 of them dropped out the poll.

There is no change at the top as Northwestern remains the #1 team.  They got 9 of the 10 first place votes.  The Trojans are off to a 4-0 start after a 42-35 win over the previous #1 team in South Carolina Byrnes.  Both teams were nationally rated so a big win for the Trojans and they also move to #1 in the state of South Carolina in 4A.

The #2 team in the FFN Top 10 is still Mallard Creek.  The Mavericks are also 4-0 after thumbing Charlotte Catholic 52-7 at Oddo Field on the campus of Catholic.  After 2 tough games to start the season, the Mavericks have flexed their muscles as their average margin of victory is now 31 points.

For the 3rd straight week, South Point is #3 in the poll.  The Red Raiders are 4-0, but have their toughest test of this season this Friday when they travel to A.C. Reynolds to take on the 3-1 Rockets.

The new #4 team in the Top 10 is the 4-0 Burns Bulldogs.  Burns also received a first place vote in the poll.  They are coming off another impressive win this past Friday when they beat previously unbeaten Chase 48-9.  They continue conference play this Friday when they host county rival Kings Mountain.

Charlotte Christian is up a spot to #5.  The Knights were off this past Friday, but return to action this week as they travel to Monroe to take on the 3-1 Redhawks.  A stern test for Coach Jason Estep's team.

The biggest mover in this week's poll is Davidson Day.  The Patriots are up 4 spots to #6.

For the first time ever, West Meck is in the FFN Top 10.  The Hawks are 4-0 and come in at #7 in this week's poll.  They beat Independence this past Friday 40-33.

Welcome back goes to the Richmond Senior Raiders as they are #8 in the Top 10.  They are 4-0 and get back into the poll for the first time since week 14 of last season.  Friday, they host Butler in a huge non conference match up.

In spite of Independence's loss to West Meck last Friday, the Patriots are in at #9.  They will get another stern test this Friday when they are at 3-0 Hough.

Rounding out the top 10 is York.  The Cougars are off to a 4-0 start and get back into the Top 10 for the first time since week 9 of last year.
