HUMBOLDT, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Authorities arrested a teacher with a criminal background for falsifying his finger prints to obtain a teaching license. He has been teaching since 2011 at Humboldt High School in Gibson County, Tennessee.

Leigh England cannot believe Willie Ozier is accused of any crime, much less one that involved falsifying records for a job teaching.

"To me he was always a nice guy," said England.

Students said they liked the geometry teacher. On Tuesday the TBI arrested Ozier. They are charging him with identify theft.

According to TBI investigators, Ozier applied to work at Humboldt High in 2011.

He used his father's name and his fingerprints so his background check would come up clean. Ozier has the same name as his father who does not have a criminal record.

Ozier taught at Humboldt high through last school year. In May, Jackson Police arrested and charged him with criminal trespass and window peeping.

After that his past criminal record was exposed. In 2003, Ozier was arrested for sexual battery which resulted in a misdemeanor, and in 1999 he was arrested and convicted of simple assault.
