Report: Student assaulted, robbed after coming home from school

ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

Police are investigating a burglary and assault of a high school student at his home, according to a report from the Rock Hill Police Department.

Around 4 p.m. Monday, police were called to a home on Community Street. Once there, the victim, who is a student at Rock Hill High School, told the officers he had been assaulted and robbed.

The victim had taken a late bus home from school and went into his home through the back door. Moments later, three males came in behind him, the report states.

One of the males then punched the victim in the mouth and took $100 that belonged to the victim's mother, who was at work at the time, off the kitchen counter. A second male pushed the victim to the ground and held him there while the first took the money.

Then, after only being in the home for approximately three minutes, all three burglars left through the back door and began running down Community Street.

At that time, the victim's brother was getting off another school bus. He, along with another witness, told police that they saw the trio run from the back yard and get into an older-model green Honda at a nearby church before speeding off towards Church Street, the report states.

The first of the trio, who punched the victim and took the money, is described as a black male, approximately 5'4", weighing 130 pounds.

The second, who held the victim on the floor, is described as a white male with reddish hair and a fair complexion, 5'7", weighing 220 pounds.

The third is described as a 5'7", 250 pound white male with light colored hair.

Witnesses also said the older-model green Honda may have had a grey or black bumper.

Police are still investigating the incident and following leads. They say once caught, the trio will be charged with second degree burglary, assault and battery by a mob, and strong arm robbery.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the Rock Hill Police Department.
