Bob Phillips admits his proposal to his wife Gail wasn't the most romantic.
On a coveted shelf at home, Laney Mungo holds the Miss Pageland Teen USA 2013 crown. But in her heart, the beautiful high school senior holds a very special place for animals.
Laney operates her very own foundation the Laney's Furever Home Project to help find forever homes for unwanted animals.
But this latest rescue would take her by private plane more than 300 miles away to Canton, Georgia.
Pageland Pilot Billy Hogge volunteered his time and his plane to fly her there to pick up a beagle mix named Tex. Tex was given up as an owner surrender and due to be euthanized before Laney made the call to hold him.
"A family had him and they could no longer keep him and they were giving him up to a shelter and the shelter was going to euthanize him," said Laney.
Our camera was there as the plane left Pageland and made the one and a half hour flight to GA. At the airport is Canton is where they met a very grateful "Tex" and brought him back home.
Tex rode in coach the whole way home, and Laney is fostering him at her house. But with 5 other dogs, she needs to find him a less crowded home. A place he can call his Furrever home.
If you're interested in adopting Tex, you can contact Laney's Furever Home Project at 843-672-7659.
