Officials in Belmont have arrested two people after a tip led them to a meth lab at a home Wednesday. They say a 3-year-old boy was also at the home.

Around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday Belmont Police, along with officials from the Department of Social Services responded to a home on Gaston Avenue Ext after they were given a tip that there may be methamphetamine manufacturing at the location.

Investigators told WBTV evidence at the scene gathered Wednesday and Thursday morning supported the claim.

A 3-year-old boy was taken into DSS custody from the scene.

Robin Rhyne, Jr., 27, and Kimberly Hall, 51, were arrested and charged with an assortment of felony charges associated with the possession and manufacturing of methamphetamine.

They were also charged with misdemeanor child abuse in a connection to the presence of a child in an alleged meth lab.

Rhyne was placed in the Gaston County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond. Hall received a $60,000 bond.

Chief Charlie Franklin expressed concern over the presence of a child in a suspected drug lab.

"For people to be involved in something like this is bad," Franklin said. "But when you involve children that can't fend for themselves that is truly distressing."

Officials say the State Bureau of Investigation and the Belmont Police Department are still investigating the incident.
