TAYLORS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said there was a fatal shooting on Woodleigh Drive on Wednesday.

A juvenile was found dead in the backyard of a Taylors home when deputies arrived around 6:15 p.m., according to Jonathan Smith of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

Smith said the victim did not live at the residence where his body was found. A resident of the home was taken into custody, but was not arrested or charged with any crime at this time, according to Smith.

Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis identified the victim as 15-year-old Trayvon Dodd, of Taylors, and ruled his death a homicide. He said Dodd was shot once. Dodd was a student at Northwood Middle School.

Deputies and the coroner's office are investigating the death.

Smith said there is no threat to the public and it was an isolated incident, but would not release any other details about the shooting.
