Habitual B&E offender convicted

MORGANTON, NC (WBTV) -

A habitual breaking and entering offender was convicted and sentenced in court, according to a release from the District Attorney's Office.

Jason Michael Dalton, 38, of Morganton, was convicted of felony breaking and entering, felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny, larceny and habitual breaking and entering offender status this week in Burke County Criminal Superior Court.

Dalton was sentenced to no less than 48 months and no more than 70 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction.

 The crimes, officials say, occurred in March 2012 in Burke County, and involved the theft of assorted welding tools and equipment and a GPS navigation system.

The items stolen were valued at more than $1,600.

Dalton will be transported to the Division of Adult Correction for processing.
