Primary Day Today; President Talks To Nation

Good morning to you on this Tuesday, 10 September 2013, from the WBTV News morning team ... John Carter reporting to you this morning!  It's time to turn on your television if you haven't already...WBTV News This Morning will be on from 4:30 to 7:00 AM and we have a lot to tell you about this morning.

It's primary day today...many races are on the ballot in the city of Charlotte...the most high profile is the race for mayor of Charlotte.  Voter turnout is expected to be light.  Registered voters are encouraged to take the time to go out to vote.  We'll have the area's best coverage of the election and election results, so keep your television tuned to WBTV!

President Obama is set to lay out his case to the American people tonight for a U.S. military strike on Syria.  We'll have complete coverage this morning with the latest details out of Syria.  Meanwhile, President Obama has meetings scheduled with Democratic and Republican lawmakers today to discuss potential military action against Syria.

An Indian court has convicted four men in the December gang rape of a young woman on a moving bus in New Delhi.

Police tell us an elderly man was beaten during a home invasion on Newgrass lane in southeast Charlotte.  This is very close to Northeast Middle School.  Cam Man Ron Lee will join us live with details...and exclusive video of the scene just after police arrived.

The Catawba Indian Nation is asking federal officials for permission to build a North Carolina gambling casino in Cleveland County that the tribe says will create thousands of new jobs. Catawba Chief Bill Harris says the South Carolina-based tribe hopes the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs will swiftly give its approval.
