Panthers fans optimistic despite loss in season opener

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Panthers fans celebrated the return of football Sunday. A 12-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks put the slightest damper on their moods slights.

Thousands of people packed parking lots hours around Bank of America Stadium hours before the 1 p.m. kickoff. As fans enjoyed food on the grill and beverages with friends and family, many told WBTV they are coming into the 2013 season with optimism.

"I think they are looking really good so far. I think they got that ah ha moment where they are coming together as a team ," Andy and Erin Williams said.

As the saying goes, there is no "I" in team. But one name tops the list when people were asked who will carry the Cats in big games this year.

"Cam is going to take us to the Super Bowl this year," the Williams' said.

"Let cam do his thing and it will come to them," fan Thomas Schenck said.

After the game, Schenck highlighted the highs and lows of the Panthers opening act.

"Disappointing at the end. They just couldn't get their offensive going. The offensive line is suspect but the defense is great," he said.
