CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Two organizations teamed up Saturday to help 150 families who are either homeless or struggling to make ends meet.
The group Black Celebrity Giving and two of its Charlotte ambassadors distributed outfits, toiletries and food in Charlotte's NoDa neighborhood.
The same event has taken place in four other cities, including Atlanta, this summer.
One ambassador told WBTV a colleague of hers came up with this program.
"She did an interview with a young lady who said that she's not homeless but she doesn't make enough money as far as after she pays her rent, car note and items for her children, she only has 40 dollars left," Brenda Parson said.
Participating families also enjoyed refreshments and music from a D-J.
Families who received the items are from the Charlotte Housing Families Organization.
