Four people shot at MOMO vigil in Charlotte neighborhood

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Police swarmed two neighboring communities Thursday night after officers say four people were shot on Pinckney Avenue.

The shooting happened during a vigil being held by Mother's of Murdered Offspring, according to a group spokeswoman, as they were trying to raise awareness to a deadly convenience store shooting. 

The incident was reported on the 2500 block of Pinckney Avenue at 10:42 p.m., according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police say a man fired into a crowd of people. The people hit by bullets then ran to nearby Pegram and Allen streets.

MEDIC says each person suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are looking for the shooter.
