CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police in Charlotte are investigating a double shooting at a strip club in north Charlotte from early Tuesday morning.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers were called to Cabaret 124, off Atando Avenue, around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning to the report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a man in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.
Medics rushed him to Carolinas Medical Center, but officials reported 22-year-old Dominick Eugene Alexander later died from his injuries.
A second victim showed up in the emergency room of CMC-Main with bullet wounds. Police don't believe that person had life-threatening injuries.
Officers say they gunman is still on the loose and initial indications show the shooting was drug related.
CMPD taped off the area surrounding the club, collecting numerous spent shell casings, cash left on the ground, and other evidence.
Investigators took patrons of the club off to the side, and interviewed them trying to find out who was responsible.
At one point, a WBTV crew spotted several additional bullet casings lying in the middle of the road.
Once police were notified, investigators extended the crime scene area to about the size of half a football field.
Police say they really need the public's help solving this case. They want anyone who left the club before they got there to come forward and share what they know.
"So we need those people to do the right thing," said Deputy Chief Kerr Putney, "We need them to call give information on anything that they saw. We know quite a few of them heard the shots. We need to know everything that they know so we can bring closure to this case."
