Motorcyclist killed in Gaston Co. wreck

GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Troopers responded to the scene of a fatal accident in Gaston County Friday afternoon, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. on Lowell Spencer Mountain Road at George Poston Park.

Officials say a man, later identified as Jeremy Barber, 25, was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he went left of the center line and struck another car head-on.

Barber was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries.

WBTV's Sky 3 was over the scene of the accident, where officials had the road closed while they processed the scene.

From Sky 3, a grey vehicle could be seen with heavy front end damage. The motorcycle could also be seen near the vehicle, with very heavy damage as well.
