Police are looking for the person responsible for assaulting a 60-year-old National Park Service employee in southeastern Arizona.
Park Service officials identified the employee Thursday as Karen Gonzales and said she is in critical but stable condition at a Tucson hospital.
They say she is a uniformed maintenance worker and longtime seasonal employee of the Park Service.
She was found unconscious Wednesday afternoon in a picnic area restroom at Chiricahua National Monument, apparently suffering from a head injury.
Her government-owned truck was later found in the border town of Douglas, about 40 miles away. Authorities tracked the vehicle through Gonzales' cell phone, which was still inside.
The vehicle is being processed for evidence by the Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Cochise County Sheriff's Office at 520-432-9500.
