Tapas for a baby shower

Tips and recipes for an easy and delicious tapas baby shower menu:

Elegant Shrimp Centerpiece: I utilized my pretty stainless steel ice bucket to create a beautiful centerpiece for your table. You can also arrange this in a pretty punch bowl.  Fill your ice bucket or punch bowl with large pieces of ice, hang the already-cooked (VERY COLD) shrimp from BJ's Wholesale Club around the edge of your bucket, top the middle of the bucket with fresh lemon slices and garnish with a few fresh herbs. Serve your favorite cocktail sauce, lemon aioli, or with the delicious pineapple habanero sauce or Carribbean mango sauce I found at BJ's Wholesale Club in pretty serving bowls.

Let BJ's Wholesale Club help make your prep time quicker by purchasing items like Puffed Pastry filled spinach, crab or mushroom fillings, spanakopita or mini quiches. Serve on an elegant tray or platter.

Baked Brie with a Maple and Pecan Topping: I used a cake plate to serve my baked brie on. You can also utilize things like wooden trays, wooden bark charger, or your favorite serving platter.

  • 1 wheel (about 9 ounces) Brie or Camembert
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces
  • 3 tablespoons light-brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • Crackers or sliced baguette, for serving

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place the brie on a rimmed baking sheet; bake until it softens, about 15 to 20 minutes. Transfer the wedge onto a serving plate; cool about 20 minutes.

While your brie is in the oven, place your nuts in a small pan and toast over medium heat stirring constantly for about 5 minutes. You can also place them on a baking sheet and bake them in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes.  Remove and set aside.

When your brie is cooled, sprinkle the toasted nuts over the cheese.

In a small saucepan, combine light brown sugar and maple syrup. Bring them to a boil over medium heat; simmer until foamy, 1 to 2 minutes. Drizzle the warm sauce over your slightly cooled cheese and nuts; serve with crackers or slices of baguette.

Kosher salt and dried red crushed pepper

1 ½ cups Nature Sweet Sunburst Tomatoes found at BJ's Wholesale Club

1 ½ cups Nature Sweet Cherubs tomatoes found at BJ's Wholesale Club

3 Sprigs of thyme

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Place tomatoes on a baking sheet or in the bottom of your broiler pan. Drizzle a little olive oil, add your sprigs of thyme, season with a little salt and a touch of dried red pepper flakes.

Roast the tomatoes for about 30 to 40 minutes or until they begin to soften and to break down .

Brush each slice of bread with a little olive oil. Place your slices of bread on your grill and turn after only a minute or so to achieve beautiful grill marks. Remove and rub your garlic clove over top.

Arrange your grilled bread slices on a your serving platter, top with your roasted tomatoes, add fresh basil and fresh Parmesan Reggiano cheese.
