Technology Incubator opens in Rock Hill

The city of Rock Hill teamed up with the folks at Clemson University to debut their new Technology Incubator at Knowledge Park, Tuesday.

Many city and business leaders were on hand to kick off what they say is something fantastic for the city.

Located on East Main Street, the Incubator offers minimal cost to entrepreneurs who want to develop a new technology business venture

It also provides direct access to community resources and has the support of a major state research university in Clemson.

Three companies have already signed on, including Wade Fairey, who wants to start an online website for family history.

"I've been wanting to open a business dealing with genealogy for quite some time," said Fairey.

"We design websites and design print for non profits, the partnership with these guys is a brand assess for a web app. It's our second start up," said Kevin Nichols with Stark and Assoc.

The Incubator program is designed to assist 6 to 8 firms at one time, for a period of 8 to 12 months.

The incubator is just the first of many projects within the Knowledge Park project.

Others include business condos, a hotel, student housing for Winthrop University, a library and many others.
