MOSCOW - Former Gamecock Natasha Hastings won a silver medal with the Team USA 4x400-meter relay team at the World Championships Saturday in Luzhniki Stadium.

Running the second leg of the relay, Hastings gave Team USA a huge lead, but Russia overtook the Americans on the final lap. The host team of Russia ran a world-leading 3:20.19 with Team USA clocking in at a season-best 3:20.41.

As a fixture of Team USA's 4x400-meter relay, the medal is the third world outdoor medal in the event, after winning gold in 2007 and 2009. She also holds the 4x400-meter gold medal from the 2008 Olympics.

South Carolina assistant head coach and Team USA women's jumps and multis coach Delethea Quarles added another medal as six-time NCAA champion Brigetta Barrett won silver in the women's high jump. Barrett cleared a height of 6'6 ¾" (2.00m).

South Carolina head coach Curtis Frye and his Team USA sprint and hurdle group collected another medal on Saturday as well with Curtis Mitchell winning bronze in the men's 200-meter dash. Mitchell ran a 20.04 to finish behind Jamaicans Usain Bolt and Warren Weir.
