GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Firefighters from Crowder's Mountain Fire & Rescue, Union Road Volunteer Fire Department, Bethany-Santiago Volunteer Fire Department, and Bethel Volunteer Fire Department battled a structure fire early Friday morning in Gaston County.

At 2:41 am on August 16th, 2013, all departments received a dispatch of a reported structure on fire on the 500 block of Badger Drive in Gaston County, according to a news release from the Crowder's Mountain Fire & Rescue.

When personnel arrived on the scene they witnessed a one story manufactured home fully involved with fire, with flames coming from the roof, windows, and doors of the dwelling.
Firefighters moved in to a defensive only attack, citing the fact that the dwelling was vacant, the structural integrity of the manufactured home, and the amount of fire present.
Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately 40 minutes until it was extinguished.

A total of 25 personnel were on the scene, along with 7 apparatus.

The structure sustained substantial damage and is a total loss.
No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

The resident of the home was staying elsewhere at the time of the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force.
