State aid available for people in Burke County affected by recent storms

BURKE COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Homeowners and individuals affected by one or more recent storms can apply for state aid.

Burke County Emergency Officials say grants are available for people whose properties were flooded by storms between July 12th and 27th. Applicants must appear in person at the Catawba County Agricultural Resource Center on 1175 South Brady Avenue in Newton.

Those in need of transportation can contact Greenway Public Transportation at 828-464-9444.

Earlier this weekend, folks in Burke and five other counties learned they could also apply for a U.S. Small Business Administration loan. Homeowners whose primary homes were damaged or destroyed can apply for loans of up to $200,000. Renters and homeowners who lost personal property in the floods can apply for as much as $40,000 in loans.
