A man was arrested Friday for robberies at stores in at least five counties, according to the Hickory Police Department.
On Friday August 05, just before 11:30 a.m., Arthur Dale Maynard Jr., was arrested on a fugitive warrant for robbery of a Walgreens pharmacy in South Carolina after collaboration with officers from HPD.
Maynard was developed as a suspect in two pharmacy robberies in Hickory in late 2012 and early 2013 due to tips from the public after his picture was shown in the media earlier in the year, police said.
After seeing media images from South Carolina robberies that matched Maynard, investigators in Hickory contacted the South Carolina agencies.
Witnesses identified Maynard as the man who robbed their store. South Carolina then obtained warrants for his arrest.
After Maynard was arrested and interviewed, he confessed to the local robberies in Hickory as well as robberies in Rock Hill S.C., Columbia S.C., Richland County S.C., and Greenville S.C.
Maynard was also found with of a large amount of opiate based narcotics and cash, officials said.
