LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) -

Deputies arrived at WoodCreek Apartments on W. Meeting St. in Lancaster, South Carolina around 6:25 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting.

Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says deputies found one 31 year old male shot, and one 36 year old male badly beaten.

Kyndra Dynise Jones, Brandon J'lil Thompson, and Ronnel Chelvis Thompson are charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature according to investigators.

Investigators say Ronnel Thompson is additionally charged with Attempted Murder.

All three suspects are jailed at the Lancaster County Detention Center and are awaiting a bond hearing.

Deputies say the suspects had a dispute with the 36 year old victim over a pack of cigarettes.

The three suspects repeatedly punched and kicked the victim in the parking lot of the apartments according to investigators.

The 31 year old, armed with a firearm, came to the aid of the other victim and tried to stop the assault.

Ronnel Thompson pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots at the 31 year old according to deputies.

EMS transported the victims to a local hospital where they were airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center according to deputies.

Deputies found Ronnel Thompson and Brandon Thompson on a foot chase through woods and Jones turned herself in several hours later.

Asheville residents often see bears. The mountains’ largest city is the focus of a five-year study of urban bears that pass through or live in and around the town. Residents have reason to be wary around animals that can reach 500 pounds, sport inch-long claws and sprint at 35 mph, but they’re also mostly tolerant of them. Because no hunting is allowed, the city serves as a bear sanctuary.
