Tax Free Shopping Weekend Begins; Two Shot In Charlotte

Are you ready to go shopping?  A lot of folks are.  This is the sales tax-free weekend in North and South Carolina.  However, this is the last tax-free weekend in North Carolina as the state legislature has voted to end the practice.

Police are searching for a shooter this morning after two people were shot in southwest Charlotte overnight.  It happened on Cama Street.

Two people have been arrested in connection with a murder in north Charlotte that happened earlier this week.  The victim was shot as he sat in a car at a gas station.  We'll tell you who's been arrested.

We're following a major international story.  CBS News has learned U-S intelligence has picked up signs of an Al Qaida plot against American diplomatic posts in the middle east and southeast Asia.
