Two arrested after man murdered at East Charlotte gas station

It's an area that has seen widespread problems in the past with gang activity, drugs and prostitution.  But neighbors along with police have been able to clean the Hidden Valley neighborhood up.

But crimes in the area recently have some worried the bad times are back.

Late Tuesday night, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called to the corner of Sugar Creek Road and Reagan Drive after reports of a person shot.

32 year old Miguel Sanchez was found at the Shell gas station in the parking lot with a bullet wound.  He was rushed to the hospital where died overnight. This appears to be a robbery attempt.

According to investigators, Sanchez was sitting in his car when he was approached by a gunman on foot.

They gunman tried to rob Sanchez in the car, and fired at least once striking the him.

Police have arrested 18 year old Jonah Terrell Bryant and 18 year old Christopher Edward Diggs as suspects.

Diggs will be charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Conveyance in Operation causing Serious Bodily Injury and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Conveyance in Operation.

Bryant will be charged with Murder, two counts of Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.

Augustin Tshipamba works at the Shell station where the shooting happened and says he's worried about his safety.

"When you go to work in the morning, you don't want to be afraid that you don't know if you're going to come back home because you're robbed, you want to go to work and be sure that you're going to be able to come home and see your family, " he said.

Just three weeks ago, someone fired on four people inside of a car on Reagan Drive very close to the Hidden Valley neighborhood.
