CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV ) - Officials in Caldwell County say the bodies of a 48-year-old and a young girl were recovered from a creek after an incident on Saturday evening.
WBTV has learned that search and rescue crews found the body of 48-year-old Juan Alberdi, of Huntersville, around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in Wilson Creek.
Alberdi's body was found in the water below the "Lady on the Rock" area near where he was swept away on Saturday.
Officials say a 10-year-old girl from Charlotte, Delilah Lovett, also drown on Saturday.
Alberdi was reportedly at the creek with his two children, and a friend who was there with her two children.
Alberdi's friend and Lovett's mother told officials that the pair went swimming near "Lady on the Rock" and were swept away by fast currents.
The report says the family searched for the pair and called 911 on Brown Mountain Beach.
The little girl's body was found by kayakers and pulled to shore about 7 p.m. Saturday.
WBTV was told that nearly 80 rescue personal from Caldwell and Burke counties searched a 10-mile area near Wilson Creek looking for Alberdi on Saturday evening..
Officials say the Wilson Creek area has seen about four inches of rain since Friday night which is roughly two feet above normal levels with swift currents.
