CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Psychologist Deborah Koricke has worked with patients to try to emotionally prepare them for trial to come face to face with their attacker.
"Some victims I talk with really want their day in court," says Koricke.
Koricke doesn't know Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight, but, says reliving the terror with a possible trial could be even more traumatic for the women, especially since it's only been a few months since they've begun their new lives.
"I would think for them it would be very devastating because I don't think they've had much of a chance to recover. Even if people have recovered it can bring it up. If they haven't even recovered it can really make it so much worse for them," added Koricke.
Koricke says their strength is amazing. But what they went through at the hands of accused kidnapper Ariel Castro may be difficult to overcome.
"They've lost so many years of their lives that they'll never ever get back and you can't fix that. So they're never going to be what they would have been if this had never happened to them."
