A Rowan County man is facing charges of cruelty to animals after a deputy and an animal control officer found that two of his dogs appeared to be starving.
Deputies were called to check out a report of a malnourished dog that belonged to Christopher Lee Little. When deputies arrived at a home on Brookwood Drive they noticed a blue tick hound that appeared to be underweight and that could barely move, according to the report filed by Deputy Matt Butler.
After first denying that he owned the dog, Little then said that the dog was his. The deputy also found another dog, this one a brown and white walker, that also appeared to be malnourished. That dog was in a pen behind the house. The deputy noted that in the pen was a bowl of what appeared to be rainwater and a bowl of dog food covered in mold.
The deputy noted that the dog appeared to be in pain when it attempted to bark and that the dog could "barely walk."
The dogs were taken by Rowan County Animal Control. Little was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals and jailed under $2500 bond.
