Police make arrest in deadly NE Charlotte drive-by shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Charlotte police say they have arrested a man that killed two people in northeast Charlotte last week.

Levi Johnson Jr., 23, is charged with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and four counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle causing serious injury, according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Johnson was arrested on Cottonwood Street Friday morning.

He is charged in the killing of 21-year-old Inna Xiomara Gonzalez and 22-year-old Davion Najee Funderburk on July 11.

Police say Johnson shot them from a moving vehicle on the 6300 block of Reagan Drive just after 1 p.m.

Two other people were also shot in the incident and are expected to be okay.
