Dangerous heat across East Coast

High pressure in the upper levels will bring near triple digit heat indices to much of the Northeast, and the Carolinas won't be much cooler.

As that upper level high compresses the air underneath it, temperatures will climb into the low 90s across the Eastern Seaboard. That alone wouldn't be so bad, but when humidity is factored into the equation, the heat index will spike in the upper 90s to near 100° in places like New York, Philadelphia and Boston.

The Carolinas won't be much cooler. We will also be under the influence of the upper level high, so like our friends in the Northeast expect another hot and humid day.

Remember that it is too hot to leave kids or pets unattended in a car, even for a short period of time.

Late day storms are possible, but more widespread rain is on the way this weekend. Click here for your interactive radar.
