Suspects get away after taking gas for stolen car

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) -

Two suspects are wanted for stealing gas for a car that they were driving, which was also stolen.

The gas was taken from the UDF in Lawrenceburg just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning. A witness observed the theft and followed the suspect vehicle before losing sight of it.

Officers from multiple agencies set up a perimeter and searched for the suspects.

At one point, officers made contact with them, but they got away.

The red Jeep Wrangler they had been driving in was recovered. It was also confirmed to have been stolen from Fairfield, Ohio. It's believed the same suspects may have stolen a gold Saturn with Indiana plates from Hanover Avenue in Aurora.

The suspects are described as two white males in late teens or early twenties. One was wearing a black sleeveless shirt and khaki shorts.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
