CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Former Carolina Beach Councilman Dan Wilcox announced he plans to challenge current Mayor Bob Lewis in the race for the seat.

Wilcox served on the board for several years but lost his bid for mayor in 2011 to Ray Rothrock, who later stepped down.

Lewis was then appointed to serve as mayor for the remainder of the term.

Lewis announced last week that he's running for a second term as mayor.

Voters will decide who will take the seat in November.
