More showers and storms are in the forecast today, and that could result in more flooding as that rain falls over an already saturated ground.
The hardest hit areas overnight were in Burke and Caldwell counties.
There were several reports of swift water rescues due to the rapidly rising water near Glen Alpine.
Our Power Doppler Network estimates that anywhere from 4-6 inches fell in central Burke and western Caldwell counties. The Flood Warning in Burke county has now been allowed to expire, but Burke, Caldwell and most of the WBTV viewing area remains under a Flash Flood Watch until tomorrow morning. That watch includes Mecklenburg county and all areas west of I-77.
Drier air slowly begins moving back into the region on Sunday, dropping rain chances into early next week.
