Cops: Man found hiding in neighbor's bathroom after assaulting officer

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A home on Parkwood Avenue in north Charlotte was the scene a large police response after an officer was assaulted while trying to break up a fight.

Police told WBTV news that two men were fighting in the area of Seigle Avenue and Grace Street when the first officers arrived on scene.

While attempting to take the men in custody one of the suspects assaulted a police officer, prompting more than a dozen officers to go to the scene and assist the two officers.

The suspect who assaulted an officer managed to escape from the scene and police searched the area for him until they got a call from a woman who lives on Parkwood Avenue.

The woman told police dispatch that the man they were looking for is hold up inside her bathroom, police said.

Officers responded to her call and went inside her home to retrieve the suspect. He was taken into custody without further incident. No names have been released.
