ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) - Officials in Rock Hill have shut down the Riverwalk due to unsafe conditions.
The city sent out a tweet Saturday evening, indicating the water in the Catawba River is still rising and moving fast.
Before closing off the whole area, the city first decided to shut down a section of River Park, at a canoe and kayaking area near the Rock Hill Outdoor Center.
Earlier Saturday, nine people were rescued from the Catawba River. Police tell WBTV the group of people went into the water aboard inner tubes, in an area where signs were posted indicating it was off limit to watergoers. Officers say no one was hurt.
