SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Deputies in Rowan County have charged a Kannapolis man with possessing a firearm by a convicted felon after they were called to his home for shooting at another person at his residence.
Brandon Lee Rumple, 18, of Carter Street in Kannapolis, is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a news release from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
Police were called to the home on June 29. When they searched the home, deputies discovered evidence that indicated Rumple had been trafficking heroin.
Rumple also has a pending trafficking heroin charge in Cabarrus County. The charge dates from April 19 in which deputies found 200 grams of heroin during an apartment search in Charlotte.
On October 1 of last year, Rumple was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin while doing community service.
Deputies say he tried to discard 6.7 grams of heroin into a Porta-Jon at the Rowan Recycling Center. They found 3.7 grams of methadone and $415 cash on Rumple, according to the release.
Rumple was charged with trafficking heroin in this incident, as well, and is also pending trial in Rowan County Superior Court.
Rumple has an extensive criminal record and was convicted on January 20, 2012, in Cabarrus County Superior Court of delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance.
Rumple was placed under a $50,000 secured bond in his latest arrest.
