Police ID, searching for drug store robber near college campus


Police in Rock Hill have identified and are looking for a man they say robbed a drug store near the Winthrop University campus.

The incident was reported Tuesday morning at the CVS on N. Cherry Road. It was sent out in a text alert to students on campus.

A man, identified Wednesday as Jason Lloyd Thatcher, went into the store and gave the pharmacist a note demanding drugs. He implied that he had a gun, but one was not shown, officials said.

The pharmacist gave Thatcher the drugs in a brown bag and the he left the store on foot.

Wednesday, after identifying Thatcher, police issued warrants for his arrest that include armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, pointing and presenting a firearm, trafficking Oxycodone 2nd offense, and trafficking Oxycodone in proximity of a school.

Thatcher has a large neck tattoo that reads "F T W". He has short reddish colored hair with a beard and moustache.

Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police urge caution if you spot him, and say you should immediately contact 911.
