We have a lot of news to tell you about this morning.  All new:  a moving tribute to those 19 firefighters who were killed in the Arizona wildfire.  And now we've learned that one of those firefighters grew up here in North Carolina...specifically, Ashe County.  We'll have more on the tribute and Eric Marsh in a live report...we talk to his father about what happened.

Former Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx will take the oath of office as the nation's newest Transportation Secretary.  He got a little emotional as he stepped down as mayor last night.  Longtime city council member Patsy Kinsey is now Charlotte's new mayor...appointed last night in a 6 - 2 vote.

The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners is expected to meet with an attorney today to talk about the county manager search.  Commissioners will go into a closed session this week - to discuss racially charged comments made by vice-chair Kim Ratliff.

The public will get its last chance today to sound off on Duke Energy's latest rate hike request.

Yet more arrests in the Moral Monday protests in Raleigh.

Today the temporary bridge spanning this washed-out road in Lincoln County will be gone.  It's scheduled to come down at 9 o'clock this morning.

Do you ever take your pet with you when you travel?  If so, you really need to see the all-new story Astrid Martinez is going to bring us this morning!  She tells us animal protection and automobile safety officials nationwide are starting to unleash a new message: Restrain your pet on the road.

All that and so much more when you join us this morning from 4:30 to 7:00.  Hope to see you then!
