WEATHER ALERT: Flash flood watch for North and South Carolina

Hello! It's Christine Nelson sending you this email from my desk in the newsroom. Weather is the big story this morning. We're giving you a heads up on what you need to look out for this morning. North Carolina: Most of our area is under a Flash Flood Watch until 6 o'clock tonight. That includes the Charlotte metro and surrounding counties. The watch extends to 6 p.m. on Tuesday for Anson, Stanly and Richmond counties.

South Carolina: The flood watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for Lancaster and Chesterfield counties.

Flooding will be a threat and the rain continues to fall as this email is being sent. We have Meteorologist Al Conklin pinpointing what you should expect. Watch for his forecast every 10 minutes.


We getting new information overnight on the wildfire in Arizona. 19 firefighters have been killed battling the blaze. We'll explain what is causing the flames to burn out of control. Their deaths also happened on the anniversary of a tragic incident that affected the Charlotte community.

Today is the last day on the job for Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx. He's heading to Washington, D.C. to start his role as U.S. Transportation Secretary. We have details on who will take over in the interim.
