Investigators in Rowan County have arrested two people they say were trafficking marijuana into Rowan County from across the country.
Thomas Clark Llewellyn, 57, and Danna Ward Llewellyn, 54, of Salisbury, are both charged with conspiracy to traffic marijuana, trafficking marijuana by possession and trafficking marijuana by transportation. Thomas Llewellyn, a previously convicted felon, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a news release from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
Narcotics agents search several areas in Salisbury on Friday, June 7th related to marijuana being transported to Salisbury from the west coast disguised as a trip to obtain motorcycle oil from Blaine, Washington, according to the release.
In executing the search warrant at 203 Ackert Street, investigators discovered approximately 62 pounds of "medical grade" marijuana concealed in a false compartment built inside a motorcycle trailer being pulled by a Ford F350 pickup truck.
The marijuana lined the walls of the trailer and was held in place by bungee cords and duct tape. Additional marijuana was found inside a detached garage. A total of 65 pounds of the high grade marijuana was discovered during the investigation, with a wholesale value of $325,000. Investigators also seized a total of $10,057 in United States currency, drug paraphernalia and a .22 revolver, according to the release.
Both Thomas and Danna Llewellyn were released under a $25,000 bond.
