PSI Monday: When a warranty is no guarantee

Kim Houston had a close call.

"It was pretty scary. It was," said Houston.

She was rolling down Interstate 485 in Charlotte when  the used car she had recently purchased suddenly quit.

"Just woosh," said Houston. "I don't know what happened."

It turned into a minor wreck. Fortunately no one was hurt and she also felt fortunate because she had prepared for this kind of breakdown.

She had bought a warranty that certainly looked good on paper.

"It did, but things are not always as it seems," said Houston.

Her wreck started a battle that has been frustrating and expensive.

"$1600 later and still no car, it's been very frustrating," said Houston. "You know I'm pretty much at the end of my rope."

Where Kim's rope ends the Problem Solvers begin. Monday night at 11 WBTV is "On Your Side" as "PSI Charlotte" works to get Houston back on the road.

"It just seems like they're not living up to their end of the bargain," said Houston.
