CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

At least one person was killed, two others seriously injured in a crash on Charlotte's north side Wednesday morning, emergency crews said.

Crash investigators with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say Warnella Bryant, 19, was driving a 1996 Ford Mustang toward Charlotte on the 8300 block of Beatties Ford Road at the same time Melvin Solomon was driving a 1994 Chrysler Lebaron in the opposite direction.

For some reason, Bryant drove her Mustang over the center line around 8:59 a.m. and into the oncoming lane and hit Solomon's Lebaron nearly head-on, police say.

MEDIC responded to the crash scene and pronounced the passenger of the Chrysler Lebaron, Donna Solomon, deceased.

Melvin Solomon was taken by ambulance to Carolina's Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford Mustang, Warnella Bryant, was taken to Carolina's Medical Center via helicopter, for serious injuries.

Warnella Bryant will be arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle upon her release from the hospital.

Alcohol was not involved.

The crash is ongoing.
