Mecklenburg County Board votes 'yes' to increase property taxes

Hello and good morning! It's Christine Nelson. John Carter and I went over this morning's rundown with producers. I thought I would send this quick email on what you can expect when you turn on WBTV News This Morning. We're on the air and live streaming on the web from 4:30-7:00 a.m.

'YES' VOTE:

As we suspected, the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners voted to increase property taxes for residents. And yes, the atmosphere was once again contentious. When does the increase go into effect? How much will it cost residents? Who voted in favor or against the increase? We are answering ALL of those questions for you this morning. Make sure you're tuning in.

Chances are you are driving on the I-85/77 interchange this morning. Crews had to work into the wee hours of the morning to make repairs to the ramp after a semi overturned and caught fire, shutting down the ramp. We're letting you know if it's still blocked this morning and what all crews had to do to fix the extensive damage.

Also, people are still talking about the undercover drug buy that was staged behind a Charlotte elementary school. You may not have heard this already but one of the teen suspect's died. We have more on that newest details and police answering questions on why the sting took place by a school.

Stay through our 6 a.m. hour for all new stories! We'll see you on the air,

Christine
