On the 7th day: Moral Monday protest to target new social issues

Good morning! It's Monday, June 17. This is Christine Nelson. I hope you had a fantastic weekend. We're up and at 'em this morning, putting the final touches to the rundown. I wanted you to get this quick email on the stories we're covering on WBTV News This Morning. We're on the air and streaming live on the web from 4:30-7:00 a.m.

A local teen was killed over the weekend after an accident in Myrtle Beach. We learned the suspect is accused of being drunk when it happened. We'll tell you how friends of the victim are remembering him.

LIVE: The North Carolina NAACP chapter is back at it this morning with plans to hold another Moral Monday protest at the state capital. Today, they will be taking up new issues and are calling the Republican-led legislature's agenda "disastrous" to the people of North Carolina and to the planet. WBTV Cam Man Ron Lee has inside information on what will take place today...and more arrests could be likely.

Also, we're following the carbon monoxide poisoning deaths at a Boone hotel. We're reaching out to North Carolina lawmakers on whether they will introduce changes to building codes to prevent this from happening again. We'll also tell you how the state of South Carolina is already ahead of the game when it comes to this issue.

Don't forget to stay through our 6 a.m. hour for all new stories!

I have to go now and get ready to be on the set. See you on the air!
