A Connelly Springs woman was arrested this week after the Department of Social Services received a tip that her infant child had a broken arm, according to a release from the Burke County Sheriff's Office.

On February 20, the Burke County DSS received the report of the infant with a broken right arm, and immediately notified the Sheriff's Office, the release states.

The infant was taken to Mission Hospital, where it was found that they also had a broken right leg. A lengthy investigation was then conducted by the Sheriff's Office and DSS.

During the investigation, several people were interviewed. Deputies said information eventually lead to the arrest of the child's mother, Brandy Mia Richthammer.

Richthammer was arrested and charged with one felony count of child abuse inflicting serious physical injury. She was placed under a $40,000 bond and given a court date of June 17.
