UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

More than 3,500 people were without power for nearly an hour on Thursday morning after a snake got into some power equipment, officials say.

According to officials with Union Power, the company experienced a power outage at two of its substations in Union County on Thursday morning starting around 5:10 a.m.

The outage affected approximately 3,558 people, company officials told WBTV.

When crews arrived to fix the problem, they discovered a snake in the delivery point that took out the transmission line feeding both substations.

Company officials say power was restored at 6:10 a.m.
