CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide/ADW Unit have identified a man whose remains were found at a construction site Wednesday.

The call came in to police about the discovery, on the 2600 block of Bay Street, just after 3:30 p.m.

The caller told police that they had found skeletal remains at a construction site. Homicide/ADW detectives responded to the scene, and worked with the medical examiner's office to confirm that the remains found were human.

Thursday, investigators said that, through dental records, they had positively identified the remains as a 41-year-old man who went missing in February 2009.

Police said the man left his home on February 26, 2009, and was reported missing the next day. The cause of death has been ruled to be suicide.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. In addition, you may also call Crimestoppers at 704-334-1600.
