TROUTMAN, NC (WBTV) -

A Statesville teenager is facing charges after police say she called in a false bomb threat to a Relay for Life event last month.

According to the Troutman Police Department, a 16-year-old girl reported a bomb threat at the Relay for Life event at the Iredell County Fairgrounds on May 17.

The teen told officers that she heard about it from other students at school.  She then gave police two possible names of suspects in the case.

During more in depth interviews, police say they discovered that the teen girl made up the bomb threat and the suspects' names.

She was arrested on Monday and charged with a false bomb report.  She was taken before the magistrate and released back to the custody of her parents.
