A man is recovering at the hospital after being shot in the back early Wednesday morning, but police are having a difficult time talking with witnesses.
Sirens rang out in east Charlotte around 2am as emergency crews raced to the scene to a reported shooting near an apartment complex off of Farm Pond Lane.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they found the victim, who had been shot at least once in the back.
The man behind the gun had disappeared.
The victim was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center, where his condition remains unknown.
Police had to call in Spanish-speaking officers because there was a language barrier between investigators and witnesses. Most of the people interviewed said they just heard the shot, but didn't see anything.
Police remained on the scene gathering information and clues in hopes to find the shooter. If you have knowledge of who this person is, you're asked to call the Crime Stoppers tip line at (704) 334-1600.
